Mata Sakka



Born 1970 in Larisa, Greece. She completed her dance degree at the Center of Performing Arts in Athens. Awarded a scholarship by the National Scholarship Foundation-IKY and Cunningham Dance Foundation, she continued her studies in New York at the Merce Cunningham Studio where she obtained her degree, danced repertory work and began teaching the technique. She has performed works by Horeftes, Metakinisi, Stephan Koplowitz, Bryan Hayes, Liz Gerrin, Veronika Riz, Editta Braun, MS Schrittmacher, Jan Pusch, Cocoon dance, La Fura dels Baus, Ingo Reulecke and Felix Ruckert in New York and in various European cities. In New York she presented two of her own choreographies, and since 2003 she has been creating work together with Joris Camelin in Berlin. Mata joined Sasha Waltz & Guests in August 2005.
