"Wabi-Sabi recognises three simple realities: nothing is permanent, nothing is complete, and nothing is perfect." / Richard R. Powell (2004). Wabi Sabi Simple
Wabi-sabi is about acknowledging the beauty of imperfection, impermanence and simplicity, valuing the transience of existence and cherishing the natural cycles of growth, decay and renewal. It encourages us to recognise the beauty of asymmetry, rough textures and muted colours, of things like old pottery, worn textiles or weathered wood. But practising it can be even more profound: instead of relentlessly striving for perfection and accumulating unnecessary new possessions, it offers a path of appreciation for the things we already have – and might lead to a more joyful way of life.
